Who are our members?

We are a membership association. We work with a network of over 200 subscribing organisations – from councils to trade unions; from NGOs to universities. See the full list here.

What do our members get?

Over 20,000 councillors, officers, academics receive our briefings and news bulletins every day. Staff and councillors at member organisations also receive discounts on our training events, invitations to exclusive networking events and other services. Members can also contribute to our projects, get involved in governance, and directly influence our work. Take a look at our annual review to see our work over the last year at a glance.

Daily News

Daily News is emailed to your inbox every morning. Find out what’s new in local government around the country.

Events

Members benefit from a discount on all our events and training. We can also arrange in-house events tailored to members.

C'llr

C’llr magazine is informative, interesting and above all a good read. It is an online quarterly publication and is emailed directly to around 8,000 councillors at our member organisations.

Reports

Our influential reports draw on the experiences of our members, local communities and other partners and provide a national showcase for the best work of our members.

Guides

Our essential guides focus on topics too big to cover in a single briefing: how services are funded, Local Enterprise Partnerships to name but two.

Policy Café

We bring our members together with each other to discuss what matters to them, debate different experiences and share ideas.

CSN

Subscribers to Children’s Services Network receive briefings and services focused on education and children’s services topics. LGiU members can access these too.

Governance

Members set LGiU affiliation fees, contribute to our policy programme and scrutinise our work. Get more involved via the general assembly and the LGiU Board.
