Description

Local Authorities have always had to work with the challenges and opportunities inherent in an organisation which has both elected Members and appointed Officers. Within each of these parts organisations also have unique structures and cultures which both Officers and Members need to understand.

Added to this Authorities continue to face the challenge of increased demands and financial constraint which mean changes to fundamental ways of working. New structures, alliances and commercial ways of operating are becoming the norm meaning that a strong sense of partnership between Members and Officers is vital.

This workshop is an opportunity for members to develop their understanding of the relationship, the ways in which they can develop their own working relationships with officers and to consider how the Council as a whole can move forward.
