Ofsted update – consultation, HMCI speech, and Policy Exchange and ASCL reports (March 2014)

Ofsted is consulting on proposals for a new, common inspection framework to cover all settings on the Early Years Register, maintained schools and academies, non-association independent schools, and FE and skills providers. Ofsted also proposes to introduce short inspections – conducted approximately every three years – for schools, academies and FE and skills providers that were judged good at their previous inspection. The consultation also covers inspection of non-association independent schools and changes to the methodology of inspection, but does not include consideration of a move to routine no-notice inspections.

This briefing will be of interest to members and officers involved with provision in early years settings, schools or FE/skills that is inspected by Ofsted.
