Census 2011 - First release, July 2011

On 25 September 2012, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) published its annual population estimates for England and Wales, mid-2011. These are the first in the series of population estimates that will be based on Census 2011, and therefore show significant changes from the 2010 estimates.

This briefing builds on the extensive earlier LGIU briefing on Census 2011 first release (July 2012). It outlines:-

Relevant headline figures of the 2011 estimates

Comparisons with Census (March 2011) and 2010 mid-year estimates

Relevance and importance of this information for local authorities.
