The General Election isn’t the only vote taking place in May. No fewer than 279 English councils are holding elections this year. Did you know that 161 local authorities have all out elections? Or that 6 mayors will be elected? With so many positions up for grabs in the Other Election, millions of people will be deciding who runs their local services. Check out the infographic below for more facts and figures.
In years past, we’ve covered local elections with speed, accuracy and hopefully a bit of entertainment value. But we couldn’t do it without the amazing network of count correspondents, bloggers and Tweeters who’ve shared not just results, but election stories and images.
This is where you come in.
We’re the only local government experts providing comprehensive coverage of the Other Election, and we’d like you to join us. It can be as easy as dropping us a tweet, a text or an email when the results come in or as fun as sharing pictures of local government in action during the voting and the count or sharing personal reflections.
To join us, simply fill in your details at this link and we’ll be in touch with suggestions for content and instructions.
In the mean time, check out our #LE2015 project page and this handy infographic, which summarises what’s up for grabs.
